- }Yes, the LOADHIGH in OS/2 v2.0 is patterned after that in DOS 5.0, meaning
- }that it's dumb. You cannot specify regions into which you want a
- }particular program loaded.
-
- Since DOS is, essentially a crude hack, you won't find me defending it to
- the death. However, I have found loadhigh very handy. It works with QEMM!
- True, as John said, it not as powerful as loadhi in that you cannot specify
- in which region to place the TSR, but, on the other hand, it does not leave
- any 160 byte droppings in low memory (I'm still using QEMM 5.11, maybe 6.0
- does not have this problem). It works adequately for me, so I've been
- using it instead of loadhi.
-
- In OS/2's MDOS, it is the equivalent of DOS 5.0's loadhigh and seems to
- work essentially the same. I use the same autoexec.bat for both MSDOS
- and MDOS because of loadhigh.

- P.S. DOS 5.0's devicehigh works with QEMM, as well.
-
- P.P.S. You must include "DOS=UMB" or "DOS=UMB,HIGH" in your CONFIG.SYS
- in order for devicehigh and loadhigh to work with QEMM.
