- Really? I've been using Access for awhile and have found it to be a
- very nice product. There are some problems, but all I have read
- about from persons actually describing problems fall into one of
- these categories: people who can't follow instructions, problems
- related to configurations (e.g. there are some problems against
- stacker v3 - but that is a stacker error, not Access; or other
- product conflicts), people who read the brief, suggestive
- InfoWorld article and haven't done any personal research, and
- people who call missing features or design oversights bugs.
-
- And I should probably add to the list some individuals who
- were beta-testers and made recommendations which weren't
- immediately implemented and became quite spiteful -- everyone
- thinks their esoteric needs should be inflicted upon everyone
- else -- "I have a bozo pc some guy built in his garage on a
- rainy saturday afternoon with a kinda-like DOS shell that has
- a bazillion patches on it because it keeps crashing during a
- full moon and I think you should make Access run on it or
- I'll go out of business."
-
- Microsoft has published a bug list in their Compu$erve forum
- and included known workarounds (when possible).
-
- I won't say it is perfect, but considering what it offers in
- v1.0, marketing release or not, it hopefully will help set the
- trend for GUI databases.
