-
- What are we supposed to do? COM ports come set up to only use IRQ 3 and 4.
- If you want to be able to use both of them as serial ports (rather than using
- one for a mouse), you need a bus mouse. Microsoft's bus mouse can only be
- used at IRQ 2, 3, 4, or 5. Many Ethernet cards are similarly limited to
- 2, 3, 4, or 5. If I can't use IRQ 2, that effectively means that I can't have
- two working serial ports.
-
- The combination of mouse at IRQ 2, serial ports on 3 and 4, and Ethernet card
- on 5 works fine for me under DOS. Can I expect problems with this under NT?
- Could this be related to my NT system being unable to write to the floppy
- drives?
