- | Hello,

- | I was wondering if anyone had found a way to disable or relocate a
- | (single?) meg of memory so that the ATI Ultra Pro (on a Vesa bus) 4Meg
- | aperture could be enabled?
- |
- | The documentation says that it is currently impossible to enable the 4meg
- | aperture on ISA bus machines with 16Meg of ram, but provides (nor
- | suggests) alternative workarounds.
-
- As I understand it (and I talked with the man who wrote our S3
- drivers) this is a hardware limitation -- it can't be done.
-
- ISA is limited to 16Mb. If you already have 16Mb, you can't map
- any more memory from off the ISA bus. If you have already installed
- 16Mb or more, that eats up all the space available.
-
- You need an EISA or VESA board / system.
