- Hi,
-
- I am thinking of buying a Windows accelerator and I would like to find
- out more about what is available. I have been using a Paradise SVGA card for a
- while and I run Windows at 800x600 resolution.
- I recently read about Actix GraphicsEngine 32 in the January 1993 edition of
- BYTE. For its price, it seems like a good deal. I am wondering whether anyone
- has experience with it. However, my real question is whether it (or any other
- accelerator card )will make a big difference in a 386SX system with 8MB of RAM
- and a 236MB SCSI HD (11ms access time, w/ Adaptec 1542B). Do Windows
- accelerators allow for smoother(?) multitasking in Windows? Will they work with
- Windows NT?. One last question: Does more memory increase speed or just simply
- provide more colors at the expense of speed (as some people suggest) ? This
- Windows accelerator business is confusing to me partly because there are a lot
- of them available and therefore it is difficult to decide which would be the
- best for your own system just by reading the ads in the magazines.
-
- I would appreaciate any advises or comments or additions.
- Posting or email are both fine. Please respond as you like.
-
- Thank you,
