- Aye, it's a lot of money now. But what about in a year or two? I just bought
- a 486SX-33 with a socket to upgrade to a DX2/66. Right now, it might cost over
- $600. As of now, the upgrade isn't worth $600 to me. In the future, some of
- my favorite apps may need the added power of the DX2, and by that time, the
- Overdrive chip will probably be under $300. Think of it as a little insurance.
- It'll be at least three years or so before the Pentium becomes widespread and
- (almost) affordable, so it will be quite some time before the 486 becomes
- obsoleted.
