- On the otherhand, I've been running NT since the July release. The latest bea release
- is much improved. I reliably run both 32-bit and 16-bit Windows apps. One comparison
- that I DON'T see made very often between OS/2 and Windows is the number and quality
- of applications avaliable for both. OS/2 has yet to spawn near the number of apps.
- that is CURRENTLY avaliable for Windows. BTW, most current Windows apps WILL work
- under NT. The only one that I have that won't is Central Point Backup for Windows.
- this is because CPB makes direct disk access. This is a no-no under NT and subsequently
- causes a GPF.
-
- Overall, I would say that NT is a viable operating system in its current release. And
- for $69, you get an operating system, a 32-bit C/C++ compiler with online docs, as well
- as postscript and WRITE formant documentation for the whole thing.
