- I received email from Wintermute (apologies if I have mis-remembered your
- name) that solved my problem.

- Apparently, mkfs does not pay attention to the drive's error list. It was
- suggested that I run mkfs -c, which forces a disk scan and creates a bad
- block list. Problem solved.
