  17. Much of the volume on comp.os.linux devoted to asking questions that
  18. have been answered tens, hundreds or even thousands of times. The
  19. answers can be found in these documents:
  20.  
  21.   INFO-SHEET (what is linux, features, hardware, getting linux)
  22.   meta-faq   (linux faq, linux newsgroups, ftp, bbs'es, about which
  23.           files to get when installing linux, mailing lists,
  24.           ++ quite a lot of other info and pointers)
  25.   faq_<Date> The complete linux faq. Contains answers on: Linux, linux
  26.          instalation, common problems, linux and dos, more problems,
  27.          hints, features, gcc, scsi, X11, networking, and emacs
  28.  
  29. Both the INFO-SHEET and meta-faq are posted regularly on
  30. comp.os.linux, you should be able to find it if you search backwards
  31. thru comp.os.linux for "INFO-SHEET" or "META-FAQ" in the subject line.

  33. The faq is _large_ but very well organized, and face it: you have to
  34. read _some_ docs to keep your system running smoothly, and the faq is
  35. a kind of a minimum.

  37. The problem is that the people that know the answers grow tired of
  38. answering the same questions time after time and then stop
  39. answering... This is not what anyone want, so please RTFM before
  40. asking... and we know the FM "sucks raw eggs" but make a effort.

  42. If people could start doing this life on comp.os.linux would become
  43. better and maybe we could get rid of all the split posts too :)
