  24. I am running the lpd stuff without problems and *without* libc.4.2.
  25. All I did was downloading the lpr/lpd files from sunsite/INcoming,
  26. which someone posted a couple of weeks ago and fighting a little bit
  27. with permissions and network set up.

  29. I got lpd working with a loopback device and a correct 
  30. services, hosts.lpd, hosts and printcap file for a local printer 
  31. at the parallel port. This configuration runs from 0.98.6 to 0.99.1 
  32. without major problems, except the correct permission flags for the 
  33. daemons and spool directories. lpd just dies without any
  34. warning, if the permissions for ...spool/lp/..., ...spool/lpd.lock are
  35. wrong. I have set up lpd, lpr, lprm, lpq with setgid and owner daemon.
  36. Lpd dies too, if  your machine hasn't a valid services file.
