  17.     For some reason, everytime I try to install the SLS distribution
  18. of linux on my 386, I my scsi adapter always hangs with a scsi command timeout
  19. when doing a mkfs or mkswap.  I am trying to install it on /dev/sdd.
  20. My setup is as follows:
  21. 386-33
  22. 1542B Adaptec SCSI host adapter - I do have sychronize negotiation enabled
  23.                                   on pin 1.
  24. 3 SCSI hard disks
  25.   /dev/sda - DOS, 330 Mb Imprimis
  26.   /dev/sdb - DOS, 40 Mb Seagate
  27.   /dev/sdc - DOS, 40 Mb Seagate
  28.   /dev/sdd - Linux (or at least trying), 80 Mb Seagate ST-296N

  30. Soundblaster
  31. 1Mb Trident video card.

  33. EVERY DAM TIME I TRY TO MAKE A FILESYSTEM, IT THE HARD DISK ROLLS FOR A SEC
  34. WITH THE NUMBERS WHEN YOU DO A MKFS, BUT THEN I GET A SCSI TIMEOUT.

  36. DOES ANYBODY HAVE ANY IDEAS, I REALLY WANT TO USE LINUX BUT TO NO AVAIL CAN
  37. I INSTALL IT.  I HAVE SLS v.99 OR WHAT EVER IS THE LATEST ON TSX-11.MIT.EDU
