- Hercules text mode is supported; I don't know about MDA. The dot clocking
- problems are associated with setting video modes for the X Window system.
- There is not support for X with Hercules as of yet (but it is being worked
- on: check comp.windows.x.i386unix for more info)

-
- Sockets and named pipes are in the main line kernel. messages, semaphores
- and shared memory are available as a set of patches (currently in Beta testing)
- by Krishna Balasubramanian, which will probably be incorporated into the
- main-line kernel sometime after version 1.0.

-
- Linux is available under the terms of the GNU copyleft as is the C compiler,
- and many of the utilities. You may use them in anyway you like; but if you
- distribute them, you may charge money but you also make source code available
- and allow the recipient to distribute it under the same terms that you do.
-
- libraries are available under the GNU Library lisence which say that the object
- code to any executables linked with them and distributed must be made available
- as well as the source to the library. this would allow the linking of your
- application with new versions of the library.
-
- in other words use this stuff as you will, but if you start to distribute or
- resell it then it gets a bit more complicated.
