- hello again.
-
- i had been using vile 3.11 with no problem until 0.98.6 came, and i kept
- getting the ''recompile'' messages, and the screen editing wasn't quite
- right. the closest source i could find was vile 3 on prep.ai.mit.edu.
-
- vile 3 seems to work, except that when i vile filename, i get two
- buffers - one of them (the primary one) is the .vilerc file. this isn't
- a drastic error, just an inconvenience. i also get a lot of out of memroy
- errors.
-
- question 1: is there a copy of the source for vile3.11 somewhere? i ddn't
- see it in the usual places.
-
- so i tried the source for elvis 1.6 from tsx-11 (i think). i had to patch
- (from the elvis.patch post) by hand because the patch had absolute
- paths, and my system didn't like it. anyway, elvis doesn't handle scrolling
- down correctly, similar to the 25th-line problem that minicom has.
-
- question 2: is this a common problem? is there a mistake in my termcap?
- is there an easy fix?
-
- question 3: is there a 'standard' vi clone that was written specifically
- for linux? one that a moron like me can just download, untar, and make?
-
- thanx in advance.
