  11. I'm currently running Linux v0.99.1 and XFree86 1.1 using the X8514
  12. X server. When starting X (I'm using xdm) if I open an xterm from
  13. the olvwm desktop menu, certain programs will fail when invoked from
  14. this xterm, most notably more(1), which will display one screenfull
  15. of a file and then exit without giving a prompt, and occasionally
  16. kermit, which will start up normally, give the prompt, and then exit.
  17. The only thing that seems to be different about these xterms is that
  18. on the ps listing the control terminal is '?'. If I start an xterm
  19. from the command line of the first xterm, the programs work fine
  20. in the new xterm. Why does this problem occur?
