- Hope this doesn't sound too stupid, but I'm a little ignorant when it
- comes to standards....
-
- I've recently bought a Summit Systems SE250 tape drive. This plugs into
- the Floppy Disk controller, and uses DC2120 tapes.
- First silly question set: is this a QIC-02 compatible tape drive? I know it
- is meant to produce QIC-80 tapes, but is QIC-02 an interface definition?
- Could I use this tape drive with the QIC-02 patches?
-
- Second silly question set: By looking through the Floppy Tape Driver files
- (GNU programs) which seem to have support for Colorado tape drives, it
- appears that you need to send two special bytes to the FDC, and the
- tape drive then intercepts all further FDC commands, effectively
- disabling the floppy drives. Correct?
-
- I also assume these files are not suitable for Linux yet - they were
- put there for reference?
-
- Does anyone know the "enable" and "disable" bytes needed for Summit
- tape drives? I tried using a Colorado TAPE program, but this just caused
- my floppies to be accessed, so I assume the Summit command sequences are
- different to Colorado :-(
-
- Your time and effort much appreciated in answering these questions.
-
- Best regards.
