- As a SYSOP of The Buffalo Computer Society I want to have
- LINUX on the system for people to download. The Buffalo Computer
- Society is presently run on an SGI R3000 Indigo, and it's a Public
- Access UNIX system. (They call up they get a shell, simple, easy, and
- flexible.)
-
- This is the thing, I've gotten a few things from tsx-11, but I
- want to know what I should get exactly to make installation, and
- system maintenance as painless as possible. I don't have DOS or
- Windows software on the BCS as people can call one of many numerous
- other PD DOS systems out there. The Buffalo Computer Society dwells
- mainly on UNIX, with some stuff for Mac & Amiga.
-
- Could someone please send me a list of stuff to get? Mainly
- concentrating on:
-
- Telecommunications, pcomm, or something of that sort.
- UUCP
- Mail
- TCP/IP Networking
- ?NFS? - Maybe?
- SLIP
- ?PPP? - Maybe?
- X11
- Window Manager???
-
- Also, does LINUX .99 have Job Control like IRIX, or BSD? Just
- wondering as I have never run it.
-
- In short the mission is to enlighten people in Buffalo (The
- most technologicly challenged CITY I've ever lived in!) about UNIX,
- and that it's not what PC-Magazine has made it out to be. I've got 3
- people on my system who run it, and they want more... Should I just
- go and FTP all of the SLS package?
