  23. The 1993 International Computer Music Conference (ICMC 1993),
  24. sponsored by the International Computer Music Association (ICMA), will
  25. be held on Sept. 10-15, 1993 at Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan.
  26. This is the first time the ICMC will be hosted in Asia.
  27.  
  28. The conference welcomes all contributions related to computer music
  29. in the forms of music work, technical papers, demonstrations,
  30. and studio reports.  The DEADLINE for all submissions is JANUARY 30, 1993.

  32. *** Papers and Demonstrations
  33.  
  34. The topics of papers and demonstrations include (but are not restricted to):
  35.   * Sound/signal processing, analysis and synthesis
  36.   * Composition and performance
  37.   * Notation systems
  38.   * MIDI and standardization
  39.   * Applications of music theory/analysis
  40.   * Software/hardware systems/tools
  41.   * Perception, cognition and emotive research
  42.   * Physical models
  43.   * Theory and foundations
  44.   * Linkage with other media
  45.   * Studio reports
  46. An accepted work is entitled to an article in the proceedings, and will be
  47. presented at the conference in oral sessions or poster/demonstration sessions
  48. with dedicated time-slots and space.

  50. Submissions must include three copies of the abstract (500 words or less)
  51. together with a completed submission form.

  53. *** Music Works
  54.  
  55. Computer related music works may fall in (but not restricted to) the
  56. following categories:
  57.   * Interactive Live Computer Music: Interactive music in various forms
  58.     based on innovative and creative use of computers.
  59.   * Music for Computers: Digitally-produced music assisted by computers.
  60.     Performed in real time or using tapes produced in studios.
  61.   * Algorithmic Compositions: Music composed with the aid of computer
  62.     programs.
  63.   * Music for Instruments and/or Voices and Computers (live or prerecorded).
  64.   * Music for Experimental Instruments and Computers (live or prerecorded).
  65.   * Computer Music with Visual Art.
  66. An accepted work will be presented in the concert sessions of the conference.

  68. Submissions must include the work material (tapes, scores, etc.) together
  69. with a completed submission form.

  73. The special events that take place during the conference (including special
  74. talks and panel sessions) will be due announced.
