  11.             Educational Gameland CD-ROM Project

  13. We are a small group of graduate students at the University of Utah,
  14. working on a few projects to learn some new skills (and maybe help
  15. subsidize our student loans at the same time).  We've just recently
  16. made a CD-ROM for the PC, called 'Educational Gameland', which has a
  17. variety of learning-oriented shareware games and programs (over 100
  18. games and 1000 files).

  20. The programs on the CD are divided into directories by topic:
  21.  
  22.   Geograph: programs for learning US and world geography
  23.   Grabbag:  a miscellany (typing, telling time, memory games, etc.)
  24.   Language: basic language tutors for French, Spanish and Latin
  25.   Math:     several math games for add, sub, mult, div
  26.   Music:    programs to help learn notes
  27.   Spelling: several spelling games for different levels
  28.   Storybk:  2 Hans Christian Andersen stories with sound recordings
  29.   Teacher:  programs for teachers (gradebooks, quiz makers, crossword
  30.             puzzle makers, computer glossary, etc)
  31.   Toddler:  programs for very small kids (shapes, sounds, letters, etc.)
  32.   Wordgame: crosswords, cryptograms, etc.

  34. We're hoping this CD will be useful in classrooms and at home, for
  35. helping kids to learn some basic skills and have some fun in the
  36. process.  We are quite happy with how the disc turned out as a whole,
  37. and we're offering it to the public for a nominal fee so it will be
  38. accessible to schools and to families with young kids.
