- Regarding point 1, the frozen configuration file really only makes
- sense if your disk speeds are noticeably faster than your CPU speeds.
- The .fc file is large, but on the other hand reading a .cf file
- involves lots of mallocs.

- However, please notice that sendmail doesn't have to restart on incoming
- SMTP connections, so this choice is irrelevant there. On workstations,
- all but the most determined emailer will notice the difference. So, the
- only place this is likely to make a difference is large, shared machines
- with a lot of people sendmail email.

- Regarding point 2, someone hacked the sources at Berkeley to add the
- syslog indicated -- they apparently mistakenly thought the .fc was
- a requirement. I have unhacked that syslog in 6.1. The frozen
- configuration was always intended to be completely optional. As a
- rule, we don't use frozen configurations any more at Berkeley.
