- :But what are the ramifications of removing the frozen (.fc) file. Are there any??
-
- Yeah. When I first installed 5.67 out of the Reno distribution, I wasn't
- thinking and forgot that sendmail needs the static compilation to work with
- the .fc files on a Sun. The Reno documentation of course does not expect
- people like me to steal Renoware for use on a Sun... So we experienced
- lots of mail problems for a day until I realized that it was dying when I
- froze the file. It took me another two months to get around to finding
- out WHY (I learned THAT lesson the hard way).
-
- In the meantime,
-
- 1) Sendmail startup speed is dramatically SLOWER.
- 2) At the syslog mail logging level I use, I was getting a warning message
- every time sendmail was invoked that the .fc wasn't present.
-
- Fun.
