-

-
- Authors from outside the United States must allow time for customs
- inspections as part of the shipping process.

- chair.program.multimedia93@siggraph.org
-
- If it is *urgent* that you contact the Program Chair and you are
- unsuccessful reaching him, you can also try reaching Steve Feiner,
- North America Program Co-Chair, at feiner@ground.cs.columbia.edu.
-
-
- What you should send
- --------------------
-
- Send 5 copies of each paper. Each paper should be complete with a full
- set of illustrations. If you want to include a videotape send five
- copies in VHS format. You should also fill out one copy of the
- submission form included below.
-
- Please send your complete submission in a single package.
-
- General guideliness
- -------------------
-
- Each paper should include a descriptive title, and abstract of 100-300
- words, and keywords. You should discus the problem and context your
- paper is addressing. Clear statements of the novelty of your work, how
- your work relates to previous work, and the implications of your work
- should be included in the introduction. The paper should include a
- sufficiently detailed description of the new work to convince the
- reviewers that the ideas presented are correct and the work performed
- could be duplictaed by a person knowledgable in the field. The
- acceptance or rejection decision is based on the content of the paper
- as submitted.
-
- The paper must be previously unpublished and every effort will be made
- to avoid concurrent publication of papers. Ppaers submitted
- concurrently elsewhere will be disqualified. The author should clearly
- explain in a cover letter or in the paper's introduction how the
- submitted manuscript differs significantly from previous papers that
- the author has submitted or published on the same topic. Releasing the
- paper as a technical report does not constitute outside publication:
- such papers will be considered.
-
- Electronic Submissions
- ----------------------
-
- Papers may be submitted electronicaly in floppy disks, 45 Mbyte
- Sysquest cartridge, or via the Internet. Electronically submitted
- papers can use the following data types:
-
- plain ASCII text
- RTF
- Microsoft Word 4.0/5.0, Wordperfect 2.1 files (Mac)
- troff (UNIX)
- TIFF/PICT images
- Quicktime movie files
- combinations of above media
-
- Electronic Publication
- ----------------------
-
- The proceedings of the conference will be published electronically as
- well as in hard copy format. It is anticipated thatthe electronic
- format will include support for rich mediaand be accesible on both
- CD-ROM and electronic networks.
-
- Copyright
- ---------
-
- The authors and their employers, other than employees of the US
- Government, must be prepared to sign a copyright transfer form before
- the paper is published. The ACM copyright procedures say in part: It
- is policy of ACM to own the copyright on its technoical publications
- to protect the interests of ACM, its authors, and their employers, and
- at the same time to facilitate the appropriate reuse of this material
- by others.
-
- The Review Process
- ------------------
-
- Judging of papers will be done under a very tight schedule to meet the
- time constraints of Multimedia 93. As many of you know, conference
- reviewing is, in general, far from perfect. On occasion good papers
- may get rejected. However, authors of rejected papers are encouraged
- to resubmit the following year. To familiarize yourself with issues
- which may affect acceptance of a paper at ACM Multimedia 93, you are
- advised to read the article How to Get Your SIGGRAPH Paper rejected,
- which may be obtained with the SIGGRAPH 93 papers contributors packet
- by sending mail to contrib.multimedia93@siggraph.org, or by anonymous
- ftp from siggraph.org (128.248.245.250). The technical committee will
- do its best to accept outstanding papers in this exciting and rapidly
- developing field.
-
- Selected papers and journal publication
- ---------------------------------------
-
- Selected papers will be recommended for fast track publication in
- major ACM journals, such as the IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking
- and the Multimedia Systems Journal, Springer International. Special
- issues on the conference are being considered.
-
-
- Happy holidays! see you in Anaheim!
