  11. I build elm 2.4 pl17 on a Sparc II running SunOS 4.1.2. It runs okay on this
  12. machine. I have 3 Sparc I's that mount /var/spool/mail from the Sparc II,
  13. and when I try to run the same copy of elm on them, it craps out on
  14. the locking thing:

  17. Giving up after 7 iterations.
  18. Please try to read your mail again in a few minutes.
  19. Timed out on locking mailbox.  Leaving program.

  21. I assumed 2 sets of things that are likely problems:
  22. 1)That SunOS can do setgid() correctly.
  23. 2)That all 3 forms of locking were appropriate.
