  13.  This post is actually from a co-worker and is similar to one I sent out
  14.  last week asking for information on PC packages.
  15.  Her request follows:

  17.  I am about to tackle a data analysis/visualization project, and I'm looking
  18.  for data plotting packages with the following characteristics (in approximate
  19.  order of importance for my problem).
  20.  
  21.    o  Runs on a VAX under VMS.
  22.  
  23.    o  Must be capable of producing 3-D color-shaded surfaces and of rotating
  24.       surfaces and coordinate axes to any selected angle/azimuth.
  25.  
  26.    o  Invokable interactively and by some sort of "macro" execution (so I
  27.       can save my analysis steps, and modify them).
  28.  
  29.    o  Includes in its command set all the programming functionality to import
  30.       data, build if/then/else, do/while, do/until, etc. constructs; has a
  31.       full set of built-in math functions; has ability to fit/transform data
  32.       to standard forms, etc. . . .
  33.  
  34.    o  Has ability to open/close multiple windows and manage 3-D contents in
  35.       each simultaneously, decipher mouse-button actions and graphical cursor
  36.       coordinates originating from each.

  38.  I'm aware of the product called PV-Wave (from Precision Visuals, Boulder CO)
  39.  that would be excellent, and of an upcoming release of MATLAB (from The
  40.  MathWorks, Inc.) that may meet many of these needs, but would like to
  41.  investigate other packages of similar or superior functionality.
