- I don't use 3D Studio but I have an associate who uses it and have been
- to a few demos. I find the materials editor and previewing to be far
- and away a great plus for 3D Studio. I find the ability to view the
- camera angle as well as the light angles in the "scene editor" to be a
- great help as well. The inclusion of a CD-ROM of tons of textures is
- fantastic and the manual that comes with 3D Studio puts Imagine's manual
- to shame. But once again, I can only comment on the 2.0 version of
- Imagine for the Amiga and not on the proposed PC version since I have
- yet to see that one.
-
- There are a couple of 3D packages that are better than Imagine in my
- opinion. I use Lightwave 3D as my primary 3D package. Sometimes I use
- Imagines modeler for creating objects because there are some powerful
- extrusion commands along paths. I feel that the latest versions of
- Caligari can give Imagine a run also. However, you must realize that
- both Lightwave 3D and Caligari Broadcast cost almost 10 times that of
- Imagine.
-
- Imagine is a *very* good product for its cost and just because I don't
- feel it's the best available shouldn't disuade anyone from considering
- it. I feel it far surpasses any other package for the price and it even
- surpasses several that cost many times Imagine's price.
