  15. At George Mason University in Fairfax, VA we have 
  16. a program in the department on Art and Art History that is 
  17. called Visual Information Technology.  The focus is on making
  18. art with computers.  We have SGIs, Macs, and PCs, as well
  19. as numerous input and output devices.
  20. On the SGIs, we use primarily Softimage as well as Eddie, and
  21. on the Macs and PCs we have many different paint, draw, and 3D
  22. animation classes.
  23. The degrees awarded in the program are MA and MFA.  It is currently
  24. a rather small program, with about 12 students enrolled.  You must
  25. submit a portfolio as part of the entrance requirements.  The program
  26. is very flexible and open to people from different backgrounds, but
  27. it is an art program, it is not stressing how to use program xyz on
  28. computer abc, but the design procedure and content of the work
  29. you produce.
