  15. Greetings.  The recent announcement of a "Touchtone" mailing list
  16. suggests that I should remind the readership of the already
  17. established Internet AUDIOTEX mailing list.
  18.  
  19. AUDIOTEX has been running since summer and already has a sizeable
  20. readership representing an impressive cross-section of audiotex
  21. manufacturers, developers, and users (quite low volume, but that's a
  22. function of what people care to send in).  Below is an excerpt from
  23. the AUDIOTEX information file:

  27. The AUDIOTEX mailing list is an Internet discussion forum for topic
  28. areas relating to the field of "audiotex" systems.  "Audiotex" is a
  29. general term covering the broad area of telephone-based information
  30. systems of a wide variety of types.  The distinguishing characteristic
  31. of an audiotex system is usually the use of either recorded or
  32. synthesized voice to output information to the user, with either
  33. telephone touch-tone keys or in some cases voice recognition systems
  34. being used for input.  Voicemail systems, information
  35. collection/retrieval systems, and entertainment services are all
  36. examples of audiotex applications.

  38. All aspects of audiotex systems, including currently deployed systems,
  39. research and development issues, user interface design, applications
  40. concepts, security considerations, etc. are valid topics for
  41. discussion in this mailing list.
