- Ka9q's author, Phil Karn, reports that his ka9q-based PC routers
- (10Mhz 286 PCs with 16550 uarts) achieve transfer rates of about
- 2.7Kb/sec for compressed data and 7.5Kb/sec for compressible data
- with DTEs locked at 115200 baud, yes with 3260FAST modems. He appears
- to be running at the limit, his 16550 FIFO level is set for 4 but
- by the time ka9q gets around to look at the fifo it finds as many
- as 13 chars.

- Bob, please keep us posted on your experiences with these 3260FAST
- modems, working with SPARC CPUs and fast uarts you should be able to
- achieve some very impressive performance and I am sure we are all
- anxious to find out what speeds records you break. Do you know how
- much these modems cost and distributors that carry them?
