- Hello Jeroen,

- Yes, theoretically.

- I have a ZyXEL E+ with 5.04RP ROMs here working more or less as a
- combined voice/data/fax answering machine.
- Voice and Fax works fine, but the way I tried to adapt the
- recognition of a calling modem (->mailbox) doesn't work as I want
- it to... (Mailbox/Fax also works fine, it's just the Voice/Mailbox
- combination that makes me *#!@)
- The great problem is, that the ZyXELs aren't able to detect DTMF-Codes
- correctly all the time; and this is necessary to make all three
- services available on one telco line.
- ( Calling modems may not be detected without sending some DTMF-Codes,
- because usually a calling modem stays quiet until the remote
- carrier is heard, as a voice caller does )
- I wait for new ROM releases which may correct this problem.
- The software I use is something self-written, called ZUTIL. It's
- available in some german FidoNet mailboxes (2:241/2107 ECOMM II,
- 2:240/140 COMTEC BBS, filename ZUTIL.ARJ, about 20k) and lets you
- record/play voice from the DOS command line/from batch files
- and does other things (DTMF detection as good as your modem does...).
- I'll put this on some anon ftp server when it's ready to be used by
- everyone. (maybe spring '93...) It's freeware :)
-
- Maybe I will also finish a Linux and/or SCO version of this software.
