  27.             Approx cost
  28.    ZyXEL U1496E      $ 350
  29.    ZyXEL U1496E+     $ 500
  30.    ZyXEL U1496S      $ 550   (This model is also called U1496.)
  31.    ZyXEL U1496S+     $ 700

  33. The E and S models offer nearly the same functionality and differ
  34. primarily in the front panel display.  The S model is particularly nifty
  35. in having an LCD display that shows, among other things, the current
  36. signal-to-noise ratio on the line and the current data rate, both
  37. expressed in real numbers.  But if no one is likely to be looking at the
  38. front panel of the modem, then the E model should be fine.

  40. If you want an S model, try Questor; these models are very hard to get
  41. and are backordered with little hope for months.  An S+ model should
  42. be easy.  Any E model should be easy.

  44. I have had excellent experience in buying from Eagle Computing.  I have
  45. no experience with the others.
