  25. I would highly suggest PC Connection (Marlow, NH - look in any PC rag).  I
  26. have bought many things from them, and have found them to be fast, curteous,
  27. and to have good customer support.  Last week, I bought a Practical Peripherals
  28. PM14400FXSA modem from them, and got it the next day.  It had problems, and
  29. they sent me out another on the next day (the day before Christmas!), no
  30. problem.  I even got them to schedule a pick-up for the dead modem by the
  31. shipping company, that way I did not need to hassle with shipping it back myself
  32. (or paying the shipping!).

  34. About the PPI PM14400FXSA: I would highly suggest it, even though my first one
  35. showed up dead.  PC Connection sold it to me for $399 (external model) with
  36. WinFax Pro thrown in free.  PPI's tech support was very good at diagnosing the 
  37. problem with my original modem, and told me to send it back.  My only gripe
  38. with PPI is that the manual is pretty technical, and if you are not used to
  39. using modems, can be tough to decipher.  Though for many people I'm sure this 
  40. is a plus (its a good reference), I still don't know how to do a bunch of things.
  41. I would be nice if they would include sections with examples for people using
  42. standard software (procomm, kermit, etc...).  This is my first 2400+ modem, so
  43. I didn't know much about v.32, .32bis, .42, .42bis, MNP2-5, etc....  I guess
  44. I'm still a bit in the dark.  I'm pretty happy though.  It brings a big smile
  45. to your face the first time you see big transfer rates !
