  14. Well, everyone, I finally compiled all the responses I got and prepared
  15. the letter requesting developer's information on the ZyXEL modems.  I'll
  16. fax this over to them on Tuesday or Wednesday; that should give everyone
  17. enough time to make comments and/or suggestions.  E-mail me if you have
  18. any changes.

  20. Sorry this was so long in coming; I got swamped with finals and then
  21. deadlines at work.

  37.      We, the undersigned, are owners of ZyXEL 1496-series modems and
  38. regular readers of the Usenet group comp.dcom.modems.  Most of us are
  39. currently developing one or more software products centered around the
  40. ZyXEL; others are interested in doing so, but don't know where to begin.
  41. We're working on starting a ZyXEL programmers' mailing list so we can
  42. exchange information among ourselves.  But to get the group started, we
  43. need help from you.
  44.  
  45.      The manual that comes with the modem is simply not sufficient for
  46. serious software developers.  In order to get the most out of the
  47. modem's advanced features -- voice mail, DTMF encoding/decoding, fax,
  48. etc. -- we need access to in-depth technical documentation, algorithms,
  49. and sample source code.  With the proper help, the programmers whose
  50. names are listed below will create the types of applications to really
  51. show off the ZyXEL's capabilities.

  54. coordinate efforts between ZyXEL USA and the programming community.
