- I have a PM14400FXSA, and the modem has got to be the worst modem on the
- market. I have had nothing but problems with it, and I practically have
- to baby-sit it, since it is so bad. The modem can't handshake correctly
- on the first try to anywhere, and it can't upload either without the
- transfer being aborted, which makes some of the users on my system get
- their transfers shot. Anyway, there is no hope for a product with
- quality
- as cheap as this. PPITech says that this modem works fine for many other
- people, but I really couldn't care less...the only thing that matters to
- me is that my modem works...this modem only works when it connects to
- another PPI or USR, otherwise the modem can't do anything....I can think
- of many other things that I could have spent this money on, but I guess
- its too late.....I hope no one else makes the same mistake that I did.
-
- But, I will demand my money back from PPI if this modem doesn't work by
- Febuary...I've had this modem since August, and I've had enough of cheap
- PPI quality. When I do get my money back, what would anyone out there
- recommend as a $250 14.4...this includes sysop deal....does anyone out
- there have a modem that doesn't give them any trouble? I have a 16550AFN
- UART, and a 6 ft. serial cable, so any ext. modem will do fine....as long
- as it works unlike this lump of worthless circuitry...
