  12. I have a PM14400FXSA, and the modem has got to be the worst modem on the
  13. market.  I have had nothing but problems with it, and I practically have
  14. to baby-sit it, since it is so bad.  The modem can't handshake correctly
  15. on the first try to anywhere, and it can't upload either without the 
  16. transfer being aborted, which makes some of the users on my system get
  17. their transfers shot.  Anyway, there is no hope for a product with 
  18. quality
  19. as cheap as this.  PPITech says that this modem works fine for many other
  20. people, but I really couldn't care less...the only thing that matters to 
  21. me is that my modem works...this modem only works when it connects to 
  22. another PPI or USR, otherwise the modem can't do anything....I can think 
  23. of many other things that I could have spent this money on, but I guess 
  24. its too late.....I hope no one else makes the same mistake that I did.

  26.   But, I will demand my money back from PPI if this modem doesn't work by 
  27. Febuary...I've had this modem since August, and I've had enough of cheap 
  28. PPI quality.  When I do get my money back, what would anyone out there 
  29. recommend as a $250 14.4...this includes sysop deal....does anyone out 
  30. there have a modem that doesn't give them any trouble?  I have a 16550AFN 
  31. UART, and a 6 ft. serial cable, so any ext. modem will do fine....as long 
  32. as it works unlike this lump of worthless circuitry...
