- National has a very nice application note about the different UARTS.
- It is AN-493. The 'F' stands for FIFO. The 'N' means a plastic package.
- At high baud rates, the PC may not always service the UART's interupt before
- a second character is received. The NS16550AFN has a 16 byte receive FIFO
- and another 16 byte transmit FIFO. The chips powers-up with the FIFOs
- disabled, so you need software that knows how to enable them.

- The NS16550AFN sell here at Fry's Electronics for between $10 to $15.
