  14. I was curious to know the differences between the 2 terms commonly used in the
  15. fields of databases and software engineering.

  17. Data Abstraction & information hiding

  19. Data abstraction, I feel is the hiding of the low level implentation of the 
  20. data structure from the operations that are performed on it. 
  21.  
  22. I am not really sure as to what information hiding is, seems to be similar. 
  23.  
  24. Could someone let me know if there are dufferences between these two terms 
  25. and if so what are the pro's and cons of using one for the other in the 
  26. world of databeses and s/w eng.
