  13. The Sybase International User Group began charging an annual
  14. membership fee of $95.00 in March 1992.  This has been publicized
  15. through the User Group Newsletter (Sybase Server) which has in the
  16. past been sent to all Sybase installations.

  18. While some number of memberships have been received, the response
  19. has not been outstanding.  As treasurer of the User Group, I am
  20. interested in Sybase users' opinions on how to increase the number
  21. of paid memberships in this group.  How can the organization better
  22. serve your needs as a Sybase user?  Specifically, are there things
  23. that the User Group should be doing that would make membership more
  24. worthwhile to your organization?

  26. The User Group exists to foster the exchange of information between
  27. Sybase users, as well as information exchange between the User
  28. Group and Sybase, Inc.  The annual Sybase user conference, assistance
  29. in setting up local user groups, the User Group's Sybase enhancement
  30. committee, and the User Group newsletter are some of the means used
  31. in pursuing of this goal.

  33. Are there specific areas of dissatisfaction with the Sybase User Group,
  34. or simply apathy?  Are there additional services or membership benefits
  35. that should be provided?  What can be done to make it worthwhile for
  36. either you personnally or your employer to pay for membership in this
  37. organization?  Are there other means of assessing fees that would make
  38. it easier for employers to pay the membership fees for individuals.

  41. in helping the User Group to better serve you, the user community.
