- The Sybase International User Group began charging an annual
- membership fee of $95.00 in March 1992. This has been publicized
- through the User Group Newsletter (Sybase Server) which has in the
- past been sent to all Sybase installations.
-
- While some number of memberships have been received, the response
- has not been outstanding. As treasurer of the User Group, I am
- interested in Sybase users' opinions on how to increase the number
- of paid memberships in this group. How can the organization better
- serve your needs as a Sybase user? Specifically, are there things
- that the User Group should be doing that would make membership more
- worthwhile to your organization?
-
- The User Group exists to foster the exchange of information between
- Sybase users, as well as information exchange between the User
- Group and Sybase, Inc. The annual Sybase user conference, assistance
- in setting up local user groups, the User Group's Sybase enhancement
- committee, and the User Group newsletter are some of the means used
- in pursuing of this goal.
-
- Are there specific areas of dissatisfaction with the Sybase User Group,
- or simply apathy? Are there additional services or membership benefits
- that should be provided? What can be done to make it worthwhile for
- either you personnally or your employer to pay for membership in this
- organization? Are there other means of assessing fees that would make
- it easier for employers to pay the membership fees for individuals.
-
- All ideas/opinions/comments/flames appreciated. Thanks for your input
- in helping the User Group to better serve you, the user community.
- Email responses are preferred.
