  13. instructions on how to access it, as well as a Table of Contents of
  14. the files currently available (as of 1/1/93). For more information,

  32. documents are now available through ftp from

  38. To connect to this ftp site, type the following at your Unix shell
  39. prompt:

  41.     % ftp world.std.com
  42.  
  43. or consult with your system administrator if you use any other means
  44. for accessing the network (such as BBSs, CompuServe, etc.).

  46. If coming through a regular Unix connection, you should see something
  47. similar to the following:

  49.     Connected to world.std.com
  50.     220 world FTP server (Version 6.12 Sat Nov 7 22:18:34 EST 1992) ready.
  51.     Name (world.std.com:your_name): anonymous

  53. You must enter 'anonymous' at the Name: prompt. In response, you will
  54. see the following:

  56.     331 Guest login ok, send e-mail address as password.

  59. Next, to be on the safe side, type at the ftp> prompt:

  61.     ftp> bin
  62.  
  63. On the world.std.com computer, the publicly accessible Kala documents
  64. are located in the pub/kala directory. Change your current working
  65. directory to it using:

  67.     ftp> cd pub/kala
  68.  
  69. The Kala public materials are organized into the following few
  70. subdirectories:
  71.  
  72.     pub/kala
  73.             /KalaForum          -- contains all back issues of the
  74.                                    Kala Forum digests
  75.             /Articles           -- contains preliminary versions of
  76.                                    articles published elsewhere
  77.             /ShortDocuments     -- contains various technical and
  78.                                    business documents about Kala
  79.  
  80. To get at any of these directories, just type 'cd directory-name' at
  81. the ftp> prompt. To list the files in the directory you're in, just
  82. type 'ls' at the ftp> prompt. To download any of the files, type:

  84.     ftp> get filename
  85.  
  86. To exit ftp, type 'quit' at the ftp> prompt.
  87.  
  88. All Kala Forum issues are in ASCII text only. Other documents have
  89. names ending in '.txt' to indicated that they are in ASCII text format
  90. or '.ps' for PostScript format (other formats later).
