- Robert,
-
- I tried preparing a reply but I think it got lost. Mailing isn't working for me.
- I'll make this one shorter.
-
- Two choices are available to you, IMHO. Omnis 7 and Foxbase+ for the Mac.
-
- Omnis 7 is a formidable development environment according to all reviews.
- Highly recommended, with versions for Mac and Windows. Pricing is also
- formidable (though not for larger companies, I'm sure). About AUS$1500 to
- AUS$1900 depending where you shop. Runtimes are likewise expensive and so is
- support. This ruled it out for me.
-
- Foxbase+ also rates very highly (see comparative review of 5 packages in
- Australian MacUser about two issues ago). It rated about 4 and 1/2 mice out of
- 5, from memory. Pricing is reasonable: about AUS$570 to $650 with the same
- amount for unlimited runtime licence. Portable to IBM (Foxpro) and uses xBase
- standard language and file formats. This is the one I chose for private use.
-
- Good luck in choosing.
-
- Merry Christmas!
