-
- I take it you're referring to the following lines from USER.DOC:
-
- Cookies may not contain '|' characters. They are also not
- permitted to contain Bufu. The exact definition of Bufu is
- left as an exercise to the reader.
-
- Unnecessarily obscure, I agree. But remember that Waffle is at least
- theoretically a BBS program, and that you're the sysop (or SYSTEM
- 0PERAT0R, as Tom Dell likes to put it). USER.DOC is the manual for the
- users, the people who dial up and attempt to use your BBS. Since you're
- in charge, it's up to you to decide what cookie submissions may or may
- not contain. Therefore, "bufu" can be loosely translated as "that which
- the SYSTEM 0PERAT0R does not allow".
-
- If, like me, you're running Waffle as a single-user mail-and-news
- program, you can include anything you smegging well want to in your
- cookies (except for |, of course). If you do run it as a BBS, you will
- probably want to modify USER.DOC before you give it to users, and spell
- out exactly what you don't allow in cookie submissions: puns, lyrics
- from the Rocky Horror Picture Show, campaign slogans for Pat Robertson,
- or whatever ticks you off the most. :-)
