- A while back, someone asked for a program to make a Digest out of a
- Waffle 1.65 mailbox. That was right in the middle of the last big RFC
- war, I think.
-
- I have just uploaded makedig.zip to halcyon. It's also available from
- my fileserver. Makedig turns a 1.65 mailbox file into a Digest that
- meets all the specifications of RFC 1153. A copy of RFC 1153 is even
- included, in case you don't have your own at hand.
-
- Makedig creates the Digest to standard output, with a Date: and Subject:
- header line already placed, so you can pipe directly into rnews or
- rmail. Makedig will also write the digest to a file (without the Date:
- and Subject:). If an admin.txt file is present, an Administrivia
- section is included. Summary lines may be optionally retained.
-
- Included with makedig IS mailidx. Mailidx essentially does the same
- thing as 'makebox -i mailbox.f', but doesn't demand a newline at the end
- of a mail item.
-
- I suggested /pub/waffle/misc to halcyon. Meanwhile, it's in
- /pub/incoming. To get the package from me, send mail to
- file-request%cybrspc@cs.umn.edu with the line
-
- /get makedig.zip
-
- As long as your signature sterts with "--\n", you won't get the
- helpfile unless you ask. ;->
