- Summary: Can BNU work with Windows?

- Configuration: 386SX, DR-DOS 6.0, MS-Windows 3.1, Waffle 1.65, BNU 1.70.
- COM4/IRQ5: DPX-222 2400bps modem.
- static: device: 4, multitask: dos windows, driver: fossil
-
- Because I am using IRQ5, I have run BNUPORT (port 03: IRQ Mask=20,
- IRQ Vect=0D, Port=0020, Base=02E8, Share Addr=0, Share Mask=0). This
- works fine with Waffle from DOS (without running Windows).
-
- When I start a DOS Box from Windows and try running uucico some of the
- characters seem to disappear, as if this were Unix and two processes
- were trying to read from the same special device file. Naturally with
- chars going missing, the uucico doesn't work.
-
- A similar configuration with the modem on COM2/IRQ3 used to work
- under MS-Win 3.1 using native drivers (before I got BNU). So it
- seems pretty clear that the problem is with BNU and Windows.
-
- If necessary, I'll have a look at other FOSSILs, but I like BNU and
- would prefer to use it. Does anyone know if BNU can be made to work
- with MS Windows 3.1? Of course if anyone can suggest how to run
- DOS Waffle native with COM4/IRQ5 (apart from buying the source and
- hacking on it), that would be most appreciated also.
