  14. Yes, certainly.  Here is more information on testing in general. 
  15. This being a new group, I understand your need of testing, but still
  16. avoid doing this.  Your next step should be testing cancelling your
  17. test posting.  If you are using rn, press C at your message.  For
  18. other newsreader programs see their help function.  (I confess
  19. having done testing in CAM.announce myself, but I also cancelled my
  20. test.  Besides as a moderator I really had no choice but to test the
  21. tools which bring you our announcements).

  29.  A: Please don't take offence by this item. It is meant as a
  30. friendly piece of advice, not as a flame. Novice users, and
  31. sometimes even others, occasionally place these "A test, please
  32. ignore" messages in discussion newsgroups. Please don't do this. It
  33. is wasteful of the resources. These news reach tens of thousands of
  34. readers, so a very wide distribution is involved. Furthermore, many
  35. users find the test messages very annoying in the discussion
  36. newsgroups, and you have a good chance of getting some testy email.
  37.    There is a much better solution for the testing. There are
  38. special test newsgroups just for this purpose, such as alt.test and
  39. misc.test. The misc.test is a good option, since there are several
  40. test echos along the feed. They will automatically send you
  41. email acknowledgements when your test posting reaches these sites.
  42.    One more piece of advice on test posting. Don't start with a
  43. "world" distribution right away. First consider experimenting with
  44. "local", and think of expanding only after that, if this is still
  45. necessary. If you look at the header of a UseNet posting, you'll
  46. notice that it includes the a line for distribution.
  47.    If you are a system manager who has had to do the test this way
  48. for practical reasons, my apologies if this advisory note was not
  49. appropriate in the case of your test.
