  14. For some time now, there has been a need to consolidate and
  15. formalise the efforts of researchers in the Artificial Neural
  16. Network field. The publishers of this North-Holland journal
  17. have deemed it appropriate to devote a forthcoming special
  18. issue of Computer Standards & Interfaces to ANN standards,
  19. under the guest editorship of John Fulcher, University of
  20. Wollongong, Australia.

  22. We already have the cooperation of the IEEE/NCC Standards
  23. Committee, but are also interested in submissions regarding
  24. less formal, de facto "standards". This could range from
  25. established, "standard" techniques in various application
  26. areas (vision, robotics, speech, VLSI etc.), or ANN techniques
  27. generally (such as the backpropagation algorithm & its
  28. [numerous] variants, say). Accordingly, survey or review
  29. articles would be particularly welcome.
