  13. We have in our department the HNC Balboa (i860 based co-processor) for
  14. neural nets simulation and development. C libraries are available for 
  15. the system as well as ExploreNet 3000 which is a Windows 3.x based development
  16. and simulation software. Many popular NN paradigms are supported. User-
  17. specific applications can be produced using the C libraries (Microsoft
  18. C). The board has 16MB of memory and has been installed in a 486-33 PC
  19. running MS-DOS 5.0 and Windows 3.1. This setup cost the department approx.
  20. A$25,000.00.

  22. The above system is available for use to any interested individuals or
  23. organisations as long as you agree to the conditions below (not finalised
  24. but should not change too much and they are negotiable):

  26. 1) The system will be used on-site only (that is in the location and
  27.    room allocated by the Physics Department  of Monash University)
  28.    and at any time as long as there is a staff/research person on site;
  29.  
  30. 2) After using the system, the person/organisation must be willing to
  31.    give adequate feedback on the system abilities (verbal and simple
  32.    written report) as well as showing a staff/research member of the
  33.    department on using the system;
  34.  
  35. 3) The Physics Dept. will have right to use (use only!) any application
  36.    produced for the system;
  37.  
  38. 4) The Dept. will have right to terminate all priviledges to use the above
  39.    system to anyone upon adequate notice (possibly 2 months??); and
  40.  
  41. 5) Any conditions stated above may be re-confirmed or negotiated before
  42.    hand. The above facilties will be provided free of charge with the 
  43.    understanding that training to a staff/research member of the department
  44.    will be given in return.
