  19.      Fourth  Workshop on Algorithmic Learning Theory
  20.      ------------------------------------------------    
  21.          Tokyo,  November 8-10, 1993

  23.    The fourth workshop on Algorithmic Learning Theory will be 
  24. held in Tokyo, November 8-10, 1993.  The workshop ALT'93 is 
  25. the fourth meeting, in a series of ALT conferences which have 
  26. been starting with ALT'90, organized and  sponsered by  the 
  27. Japanese Society for Artificial Intelligence(JSAI).  Resistration 
  28. at ALT'93 is open, within the limits of the space  available 
  29. (about 120 people).  We expect all papers presenting original 
  30. contributions in any area of algorithmic learning theory.  
  31.  
  32. POSSIBLE TOPICS include (but not limited to) :
  33.   *  Learning by Inductive Inference and/or  Analogy
  34.   *  Learning Algorithms and their Computational Complexity
  35.   *  Learning Mechanisms in Neural Networks and Pattern Recognition  
  36.   *  Learning Paradigms (e.g., PAC-learning, Query/MAT learning, EBL)
  37.   *  Learning and Decision Theory, Bayesian Inference, 
  38.      MDL Estimation, Cryptography 
  39.   *  Applications to Database, Gene Analysis, Data Compression, 
  40.      Data Security, etc.

  42. The program will contain two or three invited talks from the 
  43. lively, interdisciplinary areas in Machine Learning, Bio/Computer 
  44. Science.  Authors should submit six copies of an  extended abstract 
  45. consisting of :
  46. 1. A cover page with title, authors' names, postal and e-mail 
  47.    address, and  about  200 word summary
  48. 2. A body not longer than 10 pages of size  A4 or 7 times 10.5 
  49.    intches in twelve-point font.
  50.  
  51. Important Dates for authors are:
  52.     PAPERS  DUE          April 30, 1993 
  53.     Notification to authors  June  15, 1993 
  54.     Camera-ready copies due  July  18, 1993 
  55.  
  56. Submitted manuscripts should be written in English, and oral
  57. presentation is to be given in English.  Papers that have 
  58. appeared in journals or other conferences, or that are being 
  59. submitted to journals or other conferences, are not appropriate 
  60. for submission to ALT.
  61.    Proceedings will be published   as a volume in a series of 
  62. Lecture Notes in Artificial Intelligence from Springer-Verlag.
