- These are two entirely different things. Bringing a late model car into
- California does entail hundreds of dollars. Compliance is not emission based,
- but specification based. A friend of mine new he might get transferred and
- made sure the Maxima he bought in Washington had all the California devices and
- stickers. There's also a fee for low mileage vehicles, I think, intended for
- those trying to avoid California's sales tax.
