  42. Actually, only the windshield has this plastic film.  It's called
  43. laminated safety
  44. glass.   The side windows and rear window all use tempered safety glass.  The 
  45. tempered glass will shatter into tiny pieces so that none will be big
  46. enough to 
  47. seriously cut you.  The idea with the laminated glass for the windshield
  48. is that if
  49. something was coming at you while you were driving, you would want the
  50. windshield to
  51. be able to stop it before it hit you.
