  26. SHREWSBURY, MA -- December 28, 1992 -- Digital Equipment Corporation's
  27. TF86 tape drive and DSP5200 disk drive are first place winners in
  28. Digital News and Review's Target Awards for 1993, presented at the
  29. eighth annual awards banquet in Las Vegas earlier this month. Both
  30. products were voted best in their class by the more than 84,000
  31. subscribers to Digital News and Review.

  33.     Readers were asked to rate more than 40 product categories on user 
  34. friendliness, technological innovation and price/performance. The
  35. Target Awards honor the products and services in the Digital marketplace
  36. most preferred by the readers of the publication.

  38.     "Best Tape Drive," the TF86 is a 6 Gigabyte, 1/2-inch, high-
  39. reliability tape drive with its own DSSI controller for direct
  40. connection to multiple CPUs in a VAX systems environment.

  42.     "Best Disk Drive(tied for first place)," the DSP5200 is a 
  43. 5.25-inch, high-capacity, high-reliability disk drive designed and
  44. manufactured by Digital for the OEM market. The SCSI-2 drive features
  45. a formatted capacity of 2.0 Megabytes and an average seek time of 12.5
  46. milliseconds.

  48.     Portions of the proceeds from the Target Awards dinner will benefit
  49. the Museum of Science-Boston "Science By Mail" program for grade school
  50. students worldwide. Winning products will be profiled in the January
  51. 18, 1993, special edition of Digital News and Review.
