  14. :exposed to slang in reading.  I would guess that "copacetic" shows up more
  15. :often now in writing than in speech -- although not all that often in either.

  17. I meant I couldn't grap the concept of slang developing through written
  18. language.  Seems almost a contradiction in terms (unless you count
  19. modern net stuff but I don't call that slang myself).  I'm quite willing
  20. to believe however that slang may fall out of fashion and degenerate
  21. to being used only facetiously or humourously.
