  17. I also remember being careful to observe the quarantine of the little
  18. boy across the street whose mother had polio.  Since he couldn't go to
  19. school and since nobody could come to his house, even into his yard, I
  20. kept him informed of goings-on by standing on one side of the 4" curb at
  21. the edge of his yard while he stood on the other side of it.  When I told
  22. my mother that story later, she almost fainted.
