- The following is written on an aged yellow index card in my recipe box:
-
- Kushaw
- Parboil, remove insides (save shell)
- Saute insides in butter w/sugar to taste
- Replace in shell & bake 40 mins at 400.
-
- I think I wrote that down after eating baked kushaw (sp?) at a friend's
- house in the early '70s. He was from S. Louisiana. I have a vague memory
- that we didn't know how to spell it and made up the "kushaw" spelling. I
- have no memory of where he found the kushaw. The eating of it occurred here
- in Starkville.
